The Tecnis PureSee lens is available with Prof Muhtaseb

Professor Mohammed Muhtaseb is proud to announce that he is now the first and only surgeon in Wales to use the Tecnis PureSee intraocular lens (IOL) implant (correct as of 26th June 2024).

Like other premium lens implants, the PureSee lens is also available with a Toric correction to treat astigmatism. So, if you have astigmatism and think that you are not suitable for this, and other premium lenses………… Think again.

Astigmatism? No problem.

Cataract surgery is a highly successful procedure that restores vision by replacing the clouded natural lens with a clear artificial one. Traditional IOLs tend to be monofocal, meaning they typically focus on correcting distance vision, leaving patients reliant on glasses for reading or near tasks.

Professor Muhtaseb offers a range of premium lenses that have the potential to eliminate the need for glasses or contacts completely and the new PureSee IOL is a game-changer for patients and surgeons alike.

This innovative IOL is a new non-diffractive extended depth of focus (EDOF) lens. It provides uninterrupted high-quality vision with no side effects, by taking 100% of the light coming through and diverting it to an elongated focus. The results are close to those of trifocal lenses and better than some other EDOF and monofocal plus IOLs.

At the same time, this purely refractive design ensures surgeons’ ease of use in providing high tolerance to refractive error and an opportunity to offer a significant improvement in visual outcomes for cataract patients seeking a wider range of clear vision.

Every patient’s suitability for the PureSee lens will be assessed during a comprehensive consultation.
